When it comes to research for this business, you really cannot do enough. Watch every video in this section before moving on. I try very hard to stay on subject in each video, but I do stray off from time to time so you never know where a knowledge nugget is. And yes, you can actually call me! I love hearing from followers!
If you are planning to just be a hobby breeder, then there really isn't a bad choice for raising dogs, but if you are going to be a canine corporation, this selection is very important. You will want to get this right the first time. Changing your mind can be very costly.
This advice comes from years of hearing folks struggle with their business. I have yet to find a person having issues, that has not made or is not still making this mistake! Listen to see if you are making this mistake...
This subject can be a definite STOP SIGN! Vet selection is MORE IMPORTANT than breed selection.

With the loss of the famous Ruby Doobie Doo this week, I had to make the video about the dangers of DCM. Her breeders are incredibly responsible for this death. Her beautiful soul should have been in a dog who did not carry this disease. All of the love this girl had and she died way too young.
While DNA results is good info to have, for larger breeds DCM is a death sentence and is nothing to play around with. Do NOT let a breeder convince you that you can breed 2 carriers of any disease that results in death. You can breed a carrier and a clear and not create any pups that have the disease. That is acceptable.
Most breeders won't have every pup tested, but they MUST have DNA on the breeding parents. For $50 you can have them do a quick test on any male pup as he is the one that is critical to be clear. Females you will look at parents DNA results and know if pup could be affected. If you really like the female, and she is possibly affected, sorry but move on. This is not an ethical breeder and will only stop if they lose business over their decision.
